Recreation Soccer Returns to Play in the Santa Clara Youth Soccer League

Welcome back to soccer in Santa Clara (it feels good to be able to finally say that) !

I hope you have been enjoying the return to soccer that has happened over the past few months. I know there have been many stops and starts with Covid over the past 18 months. We have had some recent issues with air quality as well as the continuing Covid challenges which (along with the obvious health challenges) has affected the supply chain which has caused uniform and equipment delays. I am very appreciative of everyone trying to get through this as best we can by using old uniforms or t-shirts as well as old or incorrect ball sizes until the correct ones arrive. Most folks seem to be willing to work together to be able to get the kids out on the field playing this beautiful game, and this has not gone unnoticed!

Be sure to thank your coaches and managers for all the work they do volunteering to teach your children the game as well as all the behind the scenes work involved in setting everything up for an enjoyable season.

The City of Santa Clara opened a brand new sports facility this Spring called the Reed and Grant Sports Park. Many of the older kids have already played and practiced there. We are working with the city to have the younger recreational players have a Fun Friday at this facility in October as well as all the U6. U8, and U10 recreational games on 10/30 moved over there.

Everyone can enjoy this beautiful facility, but we must remember that in order to keep it in pristine condition, there are rules to follow.

This is a WATER ONLY facility. This means no sports drinks, no food, no sunflower seeds, no gum, no coffee (parents and kids), NO DOGS (not even purse puppies), no halftime or post game oranges or other snacks can be passed out until you are completely off the grass or turf and outside the facility. WATER ONLY.

Once again, WELCOME BACK YOUTH SOCCER!!
